  • Orcas at the Pavillion

    Sun 10 Jul 2022

Our Year 5 Orcas blew us away when they went to the Pavilion to perform some nautical tunes alongside other local schools. We know we're biased, but their solo song was by far the best! Here are some behind-the-scenes shots! #MakeADifference

  • We're GOOD

    Mon 13 Jun 2022

    Dear parents and carers,

I am delighted to be able to share with you the report following our recent church school inspection (known as SIAMS).

After a busy day of inspection including the inspector observing worship and lessons alongside speaking with staff, children, governors and parents and looking through documentation, the inspector has graded our school as Good.

The report recognises many areas where we are acting out our vision of making a difference. Here are some highlights:

    • ‘Pupils and adults flourish due to the collaborative atmosphere and the care for individuals’
    • ‘The vision is simple and profound and inspires all.’
    • Leaders work hard to produce a harmonious community based on mutually respectful relationships.’
    • ‘...recognise pupils making a difference through their learning and demonstrating core values in and out of school.’

We feel the inspector captured St Andrew’s well and we a pleased to see that the ethos of the whole of our school community has been recognised.

We will now endeavour to follow up on the areas of development to further strengthen our church school status and to continue to make a difference.

I am pleased to share a message from our chair of governors:

“The outcome of the SIAMS inspection is a really positive achievement made possible by a tremendous contribution from the whole school community including the staff, children, parents and the Church. The report is well worth a good read as it celebrates the many positives within the school. We should all be very proud. Many thanks from all the Governors.” Richard Butler, Chair of Governors

    Best wishes

    Sam Harris

  • 5th July - Stay and Play in Pre-School

    Sun 12 Jun 2022
  • Sponsored Zoom

    Fri 10 Jun 2022

Our Sponsored Zoom raised nearly £1000 for library upgrades! We even made the Dorset Echo!

  • Library upgrade

    Fri 29 Apr 2022

Over the holidays, work has started to improve our library. We've got lots more space and lots of new seating, but most of Dolphin Class seemed to prefer sitting (or lying) on the nice new carpet! #SchoolLibrary #LoveReading #MakeADifference

  • Together for Easter

    Tue 12 Apr 2022

While rain stopped us from holding our Easter Service at St Andrew's Church, it actually provided us with an unexpected opportunity. We made the most of the situation bringing our whole school community together in the school hall for the first time since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic. With Rev'd Menzies coming to join us at our Church in School, we had a fantastic celebration!

  • Football Fundraiser

    Tue 08 Mar 2022

Thank you to everyone who donated to our Football Fundraiser! We have raised nearly £1000, with more money still coming in! This is really going to make a difference to the school. The money will buy the goalposts the School Council have requested and will leave some funds to contribute towards other school resources. We will share more information about what the money has been spent on once we’ve spent it. #MakeADifference

  • Environmental Campaigner!

    Fri 03 Dec 2021

We're very proud of Matilda in Year 4. She felt so strongly about the damage deforestation is doing to our world that she created a petition and sent it along with a letter to our local MP Richard Drax. She got this fantastic letter back, along with a letter from the Minister for Pacific and the Environment at the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office! What a superstar - we can't wait to see how she changes our world!

  • Jumping for a good cause!

    Tue 30 Nov 2021

One of our Orcas has been a shining example of courageous advocacy by deciding to raise money for a charity close to his heart!  He said “I want to help raise money and awareness to help everyone know what Autism is and how hard it is for some people like me who are autistic. I jump on my trampoline after school to calm down before bed so I decided to do something I love to help!”

On the 28th, he raised over £600 for the National Autistic Society by jumping on his trampoline for 6 whole hours! What a superstar! #makeadifference

  • Fantastic Fundraising!

    Fri 28 May 2021

Harvey, a Year 4 at St Andrew’s school, has been able to #makeadifference for charity by doing a sponsored run. He first had the idea way back before the first lockdown, but has only recently been able to make it happen!

Harvey decided to raise money for the Cinnamon Trust, a charity which helps to care for the pets of the elderly and terminally ill. He knows how important they are, because they helped care for his Nan’s dog before she died.

He knows that raising money for charity is more fun with friends. He said “I started with Thomas because he’s my best friend so I knew he’d join in. Then I persuaded Frankie to join in. Noah head about it and wanted to help because he loves animals, and Austin just loves to exercise!” Together they produced posters to raise awareness, encourage people to donate and invite other children to come and watch,

They had to work hard when they did their run in some rare May sunshine! The boys did 15 whole laps of our Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA). Together, they managed to raise a whopping £178. We’re very, very proud of them.
