Admissions Policies

Admissions Policy

If you would like your child to attend our school, please see the full details of our admission arrangements below.

Applications for a place in a Reception class are made through Dorset County Council’s School Admissions Team. Applications are made from 1 September for the following academic year.  Please contact the office staff for more information.

Sometimes children join the school later on in their school life. We make every effort to ensure they are welcomed, looked after, and monitored so that they quickly make friends and can find their way around the school. Teachers give children time to settle in before making an assessment of their academic abilities. This assessment, together with records from the previous school, will enable your child to have the best start in our school. Parents and carers are asked to contact the school if their child has difficulty settling.

The school must have sight of a full birth certificate before admitting a pupil to the school.

  • The School is part of the LA’s in-year coordination scheme.  Any person wishing to apply for a place at the school in-year will need to contact the LA for an application form and a supplementary information form if required.  Further details in respect of in-year applications are available from the School office or from the School website.
  • The LA will liaise with the School on receipt of any in-year application so that it may be processed in accordance with the School’s admission arrangements.
