A Church School

We're proud of our identity as a church school!

We were inspected by SIAMS in May 2022. SIAMS inspection explores the question, “How effective is the school’s distinctive Christian vision, established and promoted by leadership at all levels, in enabling pupils and adults to flourish?” We're delighted to share that we were rated as 'Good'!

Worship

We have collective worship daily, either together as a whole school, in key stage groups or as classes to celebrate and praise, learn and reflect. This supports putting our values into action.

Worship is led by school staff and students; our local vicar, Reverend James Menzies; or by visitors and online providers.

Parents have the right to withdraw their children from worship by informing the headteacher in writing.

Our school prayer

Dear Lord

Even if this is all I do today,

Help me to live the St Andrew's Way.

Amen

The DSAT prayer

Dear Father God,

Thank you for our family of schools.

Thank you for what we can achieve together.

Help us all to get better and better in everything we do,

To go beyond expectations every day.

As we serve each other in love and in your strength,

In Jesus' name

Amen

Courageous Advocacy

At St Andrew's we encourage and support our children to be "courageous advocates".  This means we support and champion ethical and charitable activities on a local, national and global level.

To help us understand what courageous advocacy looks like, each age group has 'adopted' a key figure to learn more about and explore the life, work and impact of these individuals.

Reception - Jane Goodall

Key Stage One - Ameila Earhart

Lower Key Stage Two - Rosa Parks

Upper Key Stage Two - David Attenborough

Charities our children and families have chosen to support recently include:

  • Diabetes UK
  • Children in Need
  • Comic Relief
  • The Cinnamon Trust

Children have taken leading roles in raising money and awareness through sponsored runs, cake sales, competitions,  non-uniform days and awareness days to make sure that causes close to their hearts are shared with the whole school community.

Children have also engaged with causes such as writing to our MP to share their concerns about deforestation and campaigning for well-being days in school.

Our wider Christian family

DSAT

St Andrew's is part of the Diocese of Salisbury Academy Trust. As a Christian trust, Christian values and service are at the heart of all we do within the trust. To find out more about DSAT's vision and values click below:

Local Churches

We are fortunate to have two churches local to us, both of whom work with us regularly and who are part of the Ridgeway team.

Our immediate parish church is that of St Andrew's in Preston.

St Andrew's Church, Preston

Our other closely linked church is St Francis in Littlemoor.

The Diocese of Salisbury - Church of England

Although we are naturally part of the Diocese by belonging to its own Trust of schools, our links extend into the wider Diocesan family. The Salisbury Anglican website offers information and guidance on many different aspects including prayer, support and inspiration.
