Our School Vision and Values

Our school vision and values are essential in creating the culture and ethos of our school. Our school vision and values are at the core of everything we do. They underpin our teaching and learning and provide an environment
which prepares our pupils as confident, happy citizens.

In 2021, we reviewed our vision and values. They have been agreed by staff, children, parents and governors.

Our vision of #Make a difference is developed from the story of the boy and the starfish and is anchored to the bible through the theological scripture -

'Let all you do, be done in love' 1 Corinthians 16:14

Through God’s unconditional love and knowing we are loved, we are inspired and motivated to act in making a difference. Our vision incorporates the aspiration to make a positive difference (for good), to work collaboratively
(with each other), to embrace diversity (everyone) and reach out across our school and society (in our community).

Our values are:
Kindness – being friendly, considerate and generous towards ourselves, others and the world around us.
Resilience – being able to bounce back or withstand challenges, as well as to be able to reflect on something that has been difficult and use it to help us learn to improve or make changes.
Respect – being able to understand and celebrate differences between ourselves and others, and show care and concern for ourselves, each other and the world.
Responsibility – being able to take charge of our actions and accepting our accountability over what we do. This can be in our learning, behaviour or how we care for each other and the world.

Promoting Fundamental British Values.

In accordance with The Department for Education we aim to actively promote British values in schools to ensure young people leave school prepared for life in modern Britain. Pupils are encouraged to regard people of all faiths, races and cultures with respect and tolerance and understand that while different people may hold different views about what is "right" and "wrong", all people living in England are subject to its law.

The Key Values are:

  • democracy
  • rule of law
  • individual liberty
  • mutual respect
  • tolerance of those of different faiths and beliefs

Our school vision dovetails and promotes British Values.

Making a difference....

for good (rule of law - a recognition of the common good and doing the 'right' thing)

with each other ( understanding our individual liberty and freedom, but alongside recognition of the value of belonging and collaboration)

everyone (mutual respect and tolerance of others and their beliefs)

in our community (working together, democracy in action)
