Mrs Amy Belcher is our SENDCo. If you have any concerns or queries regarding SEND at St Andrew's please contact her via the office: office@standrews.dsat.org.uk

At St. Andrew’s CE Primary School we believe that every child is unique and special, and we aim to provide a broad and balanced curriculum for all. We are committed to developing cultures, policies and practices that are inclusive.

We have systems to identify when children have barriers affecting their learning and tailor specific interventions to enable pupils to overcome their barriers. Where children are identified as needing additional learning or behavioural support the school adheres to the SEND Code of Practice. We ensure that each child’s needs are individually and appropriately catered for and that any relevant outside agencies are involved in providing guidance and support.

The teacher is at the centre of the day-to-day responsibility for working with all pupils including those with identified SEND, whether receiving SEN support or with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHC).

Our Aim: Every single SEND child achieves their potential through quality first teaching that is fully inclusive. Early identification, effective targeted intervention and specialised support from outside agencies (where appropriate) results in increased pupil engagement and progress that closes the gap. We aim to do this within a supportive and nurturing environment, valuing each child as an individual and fostering a growth-mindset culture.

Dorset Council

Dorset County Council are asking parents of children and young people with special educational needs and/or a disability (SEND) to sign up for their new SEND e-newsletter. The newsletter features important information and updates about support and services for children and young people with SEND.

The aim is that it will help them:

  • signpost parents to useful information, services and support
