Monday

LI: To plan a non-chronological report

In today's lesson you are going to be planning your non-chronological report about your chosen Arctic animal.

 

Look back at the learning we have done over the last few weeks. Use this to help you with your plan. Remember that our plan needs to be written using notes so you may ant to choose bullet points to organise your notes. You are planning your report.

 

Use the attached power-point to recap the features of a non-chronological report and see an example of a plan to help you with today's planning lesson.

 

Challenge:

Plan your non-chronological report about your chosen arctic animal. Use the following features in your report: Include examples of :

 

Sub-headings for paragraphs (e.g. Introduction, Appearance, Habitat, Life-cycle, Diet, Fun Facts)

Technical vocabulary

Parenthesis.

Relative clauses

Active/passive examples

Clear facts, not opinions

Expanded noun phrases

Cohesive devices – Conjunctions, Connecting adverbs, Fronted adverbials, Time conjunctions.

Year 5/6 spellings   

Colons, Semicolons

 

Challenge:

Plan your non-chronological report including examples of the above features. You can use the attached template to help if you want to.

 

Wow:

Include examples of sentences containing colons and semicolons to separate clauses.

Tuesday

Assessment: LI: To write a non-chronological

In today's lesson you are going to write the first half of your non-chronological report: introduction and two other paragraphs. Look back at your previous learning and plan from yesterday.

 

Look at the attached  example of the first part of a non-chronological report. What features have made this report successful? 

 

Remember to include:

Title

 

Sub-headings for paragraphs (e.g. Introduction, Appearance, Habitat, Life-cycle, Diet, Fun Facts)

Technical vocabulary

Parenthesis.

In today's lesson you will be writing the second half your on-chronological report. Remember to end with your fun-facts paragraph. Look back at your previous learning and your plan from Monday.

 

Look at the attached example. What features have ben included? What could you include in yours?

 

Make sure you proof read your report and include the features that are listed in yesterday's lesson
