Vision Week
This week, classes have been exploring our vision (making a difference; for good, with each other, everyone, in our community) in more depth. Each pod took one aspect to work on and have enjoyed discussing and working on their understanding of the St Andrews Way.
Reception and Mulberry Bush
Our youngest pupils have been talking about making a difference 'for good'. They shared ideas of how they can make a positive difference, and came to school on Friday dressed as superheros - those who do good for others!
Key Stage One
KS1 this week has been exploring the element of 'with each other' using Proverbs 3:27-28 'Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in your power to do it. Do not say to your neighbour, 'Go and come again; tomorrow I will give it to you' - when you have it with you.'
Discuss this proverb with your family. What does it mean to you? Do you have different ideas of what this could mean? How do you show it? How do you experience it? Can you explain it with simpler words?
We have explored 'with each other', discussing how it could be shown and we have used the story of the Good Samaritan to help us understand it further. We enjoyed this animated version of the story: https://www.bbc.com/bitesize/clips/zcyr87h.
Years 3 and 4
Lower Key Stage Two have focused on what we mean when with the term 'everyone'. We started by exploring the bible story Cain and Abel and thought about the importance of including everyone. The children have been very creative and have created wonderful art pieces inspired by our Values and Vision.
Years 5 and 6
This week we have been learning about our school vision 'Making a difference for good, with each other, everyone, in our community'. We have focused on the 'in our community' aspect and how this links to Ephesians 3:15 'from which every family in heaven an on earth takes it name.'
The children learnt and talked about what a community is, what different communities there, how we feel in different communities and ways in which we could make a difference in our community. The rest of this half term we will be using Fridays to make a difference in our community. Keep checking for updates on this.
